Chris started his apprentice Sawdoctoring trade manufacturing Band, Gang and Circular Saws in New Zealand. After become fully qualified he worked at various Sawmills and successfully assisted with the installation of a Sawmill upgrade of Double cut Bandsaws, Edgers and Linebar Resaws.
Wanting to enhance and further his knowledge of Sawmilling/ Sawdoctoring, Chris moved to Australia 10 years ago and has since established himself in our Sales Director/ Technician role. Chris is well known and respected in his field and strives to maintain and expand his knowledge of our ever changing industry.
After 35 years with Phoenix, and with the recent employment of Chris Carre`, Kevin’s ongoing and primary role, alongside Chris, is to remain in constant contact with all of our customers, ensuring that their requirements are met, enquiries are dealt with efficiently and quickly and also that personal visit on a regular basis.
Additionally he will be working with Tracy in the office ensuring availability of stock from all our overseas and local suppliers, whilst planning for future expansion of the business.
Mathew is Phoenix's latest acquisition and joins the team to manage our North Altona Bandsaw Manufacturing facility.
Mat began his apprenticeship in the Green Triangle region of South Australia in 1996. Over the years he has trained in High Strain Bandsaw, Circular Gang Resaw, Edger and Chipper Service, Machine Alignments and overall Maintenance. Mat has gained skills in both Hard and Softwood Mills with Green and Dry Mill applications.
Wanting to expand his knowledge within the ever diverse timber Industry, he also worked within a Saw Service company and at times was sub contracted to various sawmills to assist with trouble shooting and other Sawdoctoring aspects.
Mat possesses a keen eye for detail, is a problem solver and has an uncompromising high standard of workmanship.
In 2018 Mat completed training in the USA at Wright Machine Tools and is now our Wright Service Technician.

Paul joined Phoenix in 1999 where his main roll at that time was to be part of the construction and testing of our new $1M Bandsaw Toothing Line in Sydney. Upon its completion later that year, Paul assisted with its relocation to our factory in North Altona, Victoria and then the installation and commissioning of the machine. Nowadays, Paul’s responsibilities consist of the ongoing servicing and maintenance of this machine as well as the manufacturing and dispatching of all our bandsaws orders throughout Australia and the Pacific Region.
In 2003, when Kevin purchased Phoenix outright, he could foresee the need for a lot more travelling to service his customers. He then realised that he required the assistance of a very reliable, customer focused and capable person to run the office.
Kevin, realised that his Daughter Tracy, who had all of these attributes, was the ideal solution to his problem and she accordingly joined Phoenix.
Tracy now manages the company from the office in Parramatta.
Tracy’s tasks include the processing of customer orders, Purchases both local and International, Accounts Payable and Receivable, Payroll, and the general running of the company.
Tracy is the first point of contact for any customer enquiries and will redirect each enquiry to either Kevin, Chris or Mat as required.
